Rules
Due to the Award's focus on the use of Artificial Intelligence in the arts, it is crucial to thoroughly review these rules to ensure that your submission complies with all of them.
Eligibility Criteria:
Submissions must fall within the categories of illustration, photography, or digital painting.
The competition is open to all artists, professional or amateur, worldwide.
Only artworks that involve human intervention in their creation process are eligible.
No copyrighted artworks from other artists can be used in the creation process without explicit permission.
Copyright Protection and Usage:
Artists retain full copyright protection for their works submitted to the AI-Enhanced Art Awards.
The use of AI should be viewed as a complementary aspect to the artist's creative process, ensuring that the primary creative input comes from the human artist.
Submitters warrant that their photographs may be reproduced for the purpose of marketing and promoting The Gala Awards’ competitions and Awards, as well as in catalogues, posters, postcards, publications, and on the Internet. Such use is granted for no more than two years after the announcement of the works selected in this competition. Such use is granted without any payment to the photographer or featured models. Photographers will receive credit with each use and allow The Gala Awards to sublicense their photographs to the press for reproduction in connection with The Gala Awards’ competitions and awards.
Permission for Copyrighted Artworks:
If a copyrighted artwork from another artist is used in the creative process, explicit permission must be obtained before submission.
Only artworks in the public domain or those for which permission has been granted can be incorporated into the final submission.
Permissible Tools and Software:
Artists are free to use any AI platform or software for enhancement or manipulation, including but not limited to machine learning models and digital manipulation tools like Photoshop.
Judging Criteria:
Artworks will be evaluated based on creativity, artistic expression, and the innovative use of AI as a tool.
Judges Joan Alsina, Dr. Martín Raskovsky, and Julio Hirsch-Hardy will consider the balance between the artist's vision and the impact of AI enhancement on the final piece.
Exhibition and Display:
Winning and selected artworks will be exhibited in FotoNostrum, House of the Mediterranean Photography, and may also be displayed in other exhibitions, online galleries, or other promotional events to showcase the fusion of human and AI creativity.

Each artist is permitted to submit an unlimited number of artworks.

Each artist can submit an unlimited number of artworks, and by submitting them, you are clearly declaring the use of AI in their creation.
In each still categories (photography, illustration, digital painting), it is mandatory to submit a minimum of three artworks.
Photographs, illustrations, and digital paintings should be uploaded in JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 1200 pixels and a maximum of 1920 pixels at 72 dpi on the longest side.

Transparency and Documentation:
Artists are encouraged to provide documentation on the AI techniques and tools used in their creative process.
Transparency in the use of AI enhances the credibility of the submission and aids the judging process.
Prescreening and Categorization:
Upon receiving submissions, a prescreening process will take place to ensure compliance with eligibility criteria.
Artworks will be categorized into subsections based on their content, such as landscapes, portraits, abstract, etc.
Selected prescreened images and videos will be posted in this website without disclosing the name of the author.
Recognition and Awards:
Winners will be announced in each category, and prizes will be awarded for outstanding achievements.
Recognition will be given to the artist's ability to merge human creativity with AI enhancement in a harmonious and innovative manner.
Winners in each category (photography, animation, illustration, and digital painting) will receive a cash prize of $500.
Compliance with Ethical Guidelines:
Submissions must adhere to ethical guidelines, refraining from content that promotes harm, discrimination, or illegal activities. The Gala Awards has the right to reject and remove any entry that violates these ethical standards or contains defamatory, racist, obscene or pornographic content, or that may be considered a criminal offence or violate any law.
